Job Description

This role involves working as a Designer within the Power Distribution Engineering team, contributing to the growth of the Power Sector.

Responsibilities

+ Perform detailed design work, including the preparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates for review and approval by the responsible engineer.

+ Provide limited direction to Designers and Technicians on assigned projects and may act as design leader on projects of minor complexity.

+ Possess thorough knowledge in areas such as Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control, Protective Relaying, Transmission Design, Substation Design, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Distribution Engineering, Surveying, GIS and Mapping, and CADD.

+ Prepare manual or computer-assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and minimal errors.

+ Perform design services requiring a full understanding of drawings, specifications, and industry and Company standards.

+ Participate significantly in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions.

+ Assist in preparing engineering calculations.

+ Coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to meet project schedules.

+ Acquire on-site field data to accomplish design tasks or to monitor and evaluate equipment performance.

+ May serve as a Project Coordinator on certain projects.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in power distribution and distribution design.

+ Demonstrated ability and/or experience with GIS systems, preferably Small world or GWD, and CADD systems (AutoCAD).

+ Utility distribution design experience with a utility or consulting engineering firm, showcasing project capability.

+ Ability to handle client and agency contacts in connection with project design responsibilities.

+ Ability to follow prescribed standards and procedures.

+ Demonstrated leadership and technical capability to perform job responsibilities.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university. Management may consider other education and work experience acceptable for this position.

+ Experience working in both field and office settings is preferred.

+ Must have a clear and valid driver's license and be at least 21 years of age to drive on company time, including using personal and company vehicles.

Work Environment

The position involves both field and office work. It requires the ability to coordinate with various teams and manage project schedules effectively. Candidates should be prepared to handle both manual and computer-assisted design tasks with precision.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
