Joining Ramboll
As our new senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be working across a wide range of mechanical design knowledge areas and have a desired focus area in HVAC design of chemical, power, and/or industrial facilities. The candidate will work alongside other experienced and entry level engineers in an environment where sharing knowledge to develop innovative technically sound designs is considered the key to success.
Tasksand Responsibilities
- Performing design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline. Most of the work will be related to heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC); however, the candidate should also expect work in industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
- Coordinating with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
- Developing conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
- Conducting or participating in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
- Assessing and designing building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
- Conducting spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs)
- Utilizing building modeling software to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.
- Specifying mechanical equipment
- Designing plumbing and building utility piping systems
- Summarizing engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.
- Visiting job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems. A mix of day trips and overnight domestic trips should be expected.
- Adhering to the policies and standards set forth in the Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual.
- Promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- 10+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems
- Working knowledge of fire protection requirements for industrial facilities, including the IFC, NFPA standards and FM Global guidelines.
- Desire to work in chemical, power, and industrial market segment.
