Senior Technical Advisor​/Senior Water Facilities Design Engineering​/Hydraulics​/Conveyance Systems​/Pump Stations

We are seeking a Senior Technical Advisor with extensive expertise in water facilities design, hydraulics, conveyance systems and pump stations. This role will provide senior technical leadership across complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects, supporting the development, review and delivery of robust, safe and sustainable solutions. You will work with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, contractors and technical stakeholders to guide projects from concept and feasibility through detailed design, construction and commissioning.

Key responsibilities will include developing and reviewing hydraulic models, design criteria, technical specifications, calculations, drawings and reports for pipelines, pumping stations, treatment-related facilities, reservoirs and associated infrastructure. You will assess system performance, transient conditions, pump selection, surge protection, network capacity and operational resilience. The role will also involve leading design reviews, identifying technical risks, resolving complex engineering issues, providing constructability advice and ensuring that designs meet applicable legislation, standards, environmental requirements and project objectives.

You may also support options assessments, cost planning, procurement documentation, tender evaluations, site investigations and technical input during construction.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in civil, mechanical, environmental or water engineering, together with substantial experience delivering major water infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of hydraulic principles, pressurised and gravity conveyance systems, pump station design and hydraulic modelling software is essential. Professional registration or chartered status, or a clear pathway toward it, is highly desirable. You will be an accomplished technical communicator with the ability to explain complex issues clearly, influence stakeholders and mentor engineers and designers.

Experience managing technical interfaces, reviewing third-party designs and contributing to multidisciplinary programmes will be valued. A proactive, analytical and collaborative approach, combined with a strong commitment to quality, safety and sustainable engineering, is required.
