This senior-level design role involves providing engineering services related to system design for our client's customers, including creating detailed drawings, submittal packages, as-built drawings, and close-out documents for large-scale fire alarm and smoke control systems. The position supports a range of system sizes, from small commercial facilities to very large facilities, with the goal of delivering high-quality, comprehensive design solutions efficiently.
The ideal candidate has significant experience with CAD software and a solid understanding of fire alarm and smoke control systems, facilitating seamless project execution.
- Lead meetings to define the scope of work for system design proposals.
- Oversee field engineers during site surveys to gather necessary information for system design.
- Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to determine system requirements.
- Develop detailed system design drawings using CAD software.
- Prepare complete submittal packages with detailed specifications and documentation.
- Respond to technical queries from installation teams regarding system design.
- Create and manage project completion packages, including as-built drawings, records of completion, and other close-out documents.
- Provide engineering support for related systems such as air sampling and sound modeling.
- Assess existing systems for potential migration or upgrade opportunities.
- Bachelor's Degree in computer-aided design or equivalent certification from Auto Desk.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with CAD.
- Proficiency in Revit software.
- Experience with fire alarm and smoke control systems.
- Knowledge of air sampling systems and sound modeling software.
- Experience working with products from established brands in the fire alarm industry is preferred.
- NICET certification or equivalent is a plus.
- Familiarity with product lines from major manufacturers in the fire protection industry is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate, comprehensive design documents.
- Ability to work independently with a quick learning curve.
- Excellent communication skills for client engagement and collaboration with project teams.
