- Ensure maximum landfill diversion.
- Sort event waste and educate fans and staff on recycling recovery.
- Contribute to the venue sustainability culture.
- Complete Zero Waste Captain onboarding training.
- Assist in mid‑ and post‑show sorting of all recycling, composting, and landfill materials.
- Remain available on show and non‑show days to ensure waste is sorted and diverted.
- Report ground observations to improve areas of the program.
- Suggest material circularity ideas based on observed waste items.
- Support the Sustainability Manager with education for crew members and fans.
- Maintain a clean sorting area and support post‑show pickups after each event.
- Ensure compliance with local environmental policies and mandates.
- Act as an ambassador to band members on sustainability goals.
- Participate in employee engagement programs such as water‑bottle refill punch cards.
- Engage fans and encourage participation in sustainability programs.
- Maintain availability 3 weeks in advance through the ABIMM system and manage time worked accurately.
- Comfortable working in dirty or odorous environments.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather.
- Strong time‑management skills: punctuality and willingness to work late hours.
- Dedication to cause‑driven work with immediate impact.
- Team player who collaborates well with other departments.
- Experience in events, especially zero‑waste events, is a plus.
- Positive attitude and creative problem‑solving mindset.
- Strong teamwork and program execution skills.
- Nighttime availability; most sorting occurs the day after a show.
- Fast‑paced, often loud and stressful environment.
- Approximately 90 % of the time walking, bending, reaching, stooping, lifting, and carrying 50 lbs+; about 75 % of that time is sorting materials.
- Must lift or move up to 45 lbs using proper lifting techniques.
