Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in US GAAP accounting principles and tax regulation both federal and state, direct and indirect, proficiency in SAP, and experience working within a matrix organization. This role requires close collaboration with local operations and the corporate office in Italy, ensuring accurate cost analysis, compliance, and strategic financial support.
The position is based 100% in the Charlotte office and requires occasional travel to U.S. offices in Santa Rosa, CA and Des Moines, IA, with initial training taking place in Iowa for several weeks.
- Account for purchase invoices on a daily basis, and record manual journal entries at period-end, including payroll, inventory, depreciation and amortization.
- Evaluate and carry out adjustment entries at period-end such as accruals and releases of funds.
- Perform and review ageing of creditors and carry out payments.
- Monitor variances between forecasted and actual costs; provide actionable insights to improve cost efficiency.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including cost projections and margin analysis.
- Utilize SAP for cost tracking, reporting, and integration with financial systems.
- Oversee general ledger accuracy and ensure timely month‑end and year‑end close processes.
- Prepare financial statements and management reports in compliance with corporate and international standards.
- Ensure adherence to local accounting standards as well as corporate accounting policies.
- Carry over periodic tax filings and tax return statements.
- Coordinate audits (internal and external) and manage compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Act as a financial liaison between the Charlotte office and the European corporate headquarters.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a matrix environment to align cost and financial strategies.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to achieve project goals and ensure successful outcomes.
- Travel occasionally to U.S. offices and attend initial training in Iowa.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of cost accounting experience, with exposure to general accounting and financial reporting.
- Strong proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working in a matrix organization with international stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally and complete initial training in Iowa.
- Knowledge of GAAP principles.
- Experience with multi‑currency transactions and European corporate reporting requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively across cultures and time zones.
