About the Role

About the Role: The Associate Director analyzes insurance companies across the UK, EMEA, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa. You provide stakeholders with key insights that enable investors to make informed decisions, while mentoring junior analysts to model leadership behaviors.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze information and data to determine ratings for insurance companies and their debt issues.
  • Make recommendations and present findings to rating committees.
  • Draft press releases, company‑specific reports, and industry commentaries in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effectively communicate S&P Global Ratings’ methodology and rating opinions to clients.
  • Continuously monitor the operating performance of rated companies, including reviews of public filings and private information supplied by issuers, and participate in client meetings.
  • Meet with stakeholders, listen attentively to their views, and clearly articulate our opinions.
  • Work closely with the wider team to provide effective surveillance of credits and contribute to research.
  • Nurture junior talent by encouraging, inspiring, and influencing their learning.
  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
  • Require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in‑person interview at our nearest S&P Global Ratings office before proceeding to an offer.
What We’re Looking For
  • Degree‑level qualification in a relevant business‑related field, such as actuarial science; a master’s degree, CFA, or comparable financial qualification is desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in the insurance industry and company analysis, with strong analytical and detail orientation.
  • Solid understanding of insurance markets, business environments, and relevant regulations, particularly in the UK.
  • Prior credit analysis experience covering non‑life, life insurance, and reinsurance sectors is a distinct advantage.
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical excellence and explain credit rating opinions internally and externally.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English;
    Russian language skill is a plus for some markets.
  • Strong organizational and execution skills, including effective delegation and collaborative leadership.
  • Willingness to travel and attend client meetings, sometimes on short notice.
  • Interest in AI opportunities within the rating process.
