Director, Private ABS Origination

The Director, Private ABS Originations role leads the sourcing, structuring, and execution of private ABS investment opportunities across consumer, commercial, and specialty asset classes. This role manages senior-level issuer and intermediary relationships, and provides credit leadership for complex structured credit transactions. The Director is tasked with making independent investment recommendations while collaborating closely with portfolio management, legal, and risk teams to execute transactions that align with institutional investment objectives.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Evaluates a variety of investment grade private ABS investment opportunities that encompass various industry sectors and deal structures.

  • Analyzes, structures, prices and manages large and/or complex transactions and presents recommendations to credit committee as part of a deal team.

  • Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis used in the underwriting process.

  • Monitors a portfolio of investments, prepares credit update memos and makes recommendations (buy, sell and hold) to portfolio managers.

  • Manages investments in high-quality private placement securities and/or investments in a wide variety of private placement securities, including investment and non‑investment grade securities, in accordance with defined investment objectives and parameters, while also supporting the origination of investments.

  • Maintains an asset allocation approach to enhance investment performance and maximize returns while appropriately balancing risk, analyzing economic/industry forecasts as well as investment approaches and risk scenarios to formulate recommendations for asset allocation.

  • Analyzes economic, industry and company data, and develops detailed financial models to support investment decisions.

  • Assists in maintaining relationships with deal sponsors, investment banks, investment funds, and other deal flow sources.

  • Represents the organization at industry conferences, sponsor meetings, and market events to enhance deal flow, market intelligence, and position the firm as a preferred capital provider.

  • Collaborates cross-functionally with portfolio management, legal, operations, risk management, and compliance teams to ensure seamless transaction execution and ongoing portfolio management.

  • Maintains deep knowledge of private ABS market dynamics, regulatory developments, rating agency methodologies, consumer/commercial credit trends, and emerging sectors including fintech and esoteric asset classes.

  • Mentors and develops junior investment professionals while contributing to the development of investment policies, underwriting standards, and analytical frameworks specific to private ABS.

  • Partners with internal and external legal counsel to negotiate and refine transaction documentation, proactively identifying necessary structural enhancements, covenant protections, and documentation terms that appropriately mitigate risks.

  • Develops detailed cash flow and collateral performance models.

Anticipated Posting End Date:

Base Pay Range: $169,000/yr - $237,000/yr. Actual base salary may vary based upon relevant experience, time in role, internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. Compensation may include incentive programs linked to performance.
