Position: DIRECTOR, GLOBAL TAX

Director, Global Tax

Since its founding in 1937, Krispy Kreme's focus has remained the same - making fresh doughnuts using our founder's original recipe. The brand's iconic Hot Light lets consumers know when doughnuts are being made in the shop so they can stop in and enjoy them hot, right off the line.

Krispy Kreme's Director, Global Tax leads the Company's global tax function and is responsible for overseeing income tax accounting, compliance, planning, transfer pricing, indirect tax matters, and tax-related risk management. This role partners closely with the Chief Accounting Officer, external service providers, external auditors, Legal, Treasury, FP&A, and business leaders to help ensure the Company's tax matters are managed effectively, accurately, and in compliance with applicable laws and reporting requirements.

Given the Company's tax operating model, this role also has primary responsibility for overseeing the external accounting firm that performs most tax activities under a managed services arrangement and for ensuring high-quality execution, timely deliverables, and effective coordination with internal stakeholders.

  • Advise senior leadership on the tax impact of business initiatives, legal entity changes, financing matters, restructuring activities, and other strategic transactions
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess the impact on the Company

Managed Services Oversight

  • Serve as the primary internal relationship owner for the external accounting firm engaged in the Company's tax managed services model
  • Oversee outsourced tax compliance and tax accounting activities to ensure work is timely, accurate, complete, and aligned with Company expectations
  • Review key deliverables prepared by the external service provider, including income tax provisions, tax returns, estimated tax calculations, extension filings, and supporting work papers
  • Establish priorities, timelines, service expectations, and accountability for outsourced tax activities
  • Coordinate effectively between the external provider and internal stakeholders to facilitate information flow, issue resolution, and process execution

Tax Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation and review of the Company's quarterly and annual income tax provision under U.S. GAAP
  • Review and support tax-related disclosures included in Forms 10-K, 10-Q, earnings materials, and other public-company reporting deliverables
  • Evaluate and document uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, return-to-provision analyses, and other significant tax accounting judgments
  • Partner with the accounting and external reporting teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting of tax balances, effective tax rate drivers, and discrete items
  • Support accounting for complex transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, legal entity restructurings, financing matters, and cross-border initiatives

Tax Compliance and Risk Management

  • Oversee the Company's global income tax compliance process, including federal, state, local, and international filings prepared through the managed services model
  • Monitor tax exposures, audit activity, notices, and controversy matters; coordinate responses and remediation plans as appropriate
  • Oversee non-income tax matters, including indirect tax, franchise tax, property tax, and other business tax obligations, as applicable
  • Maintain and enhance tax governance processes to support compliance, visibility, and risk mitigation
  • Ensure appropriate retention of tax documentation and support for key tax positions. Planning, Forecasting and Business Partnership
