primary functions: The Loan Processing Specialist supports the consumer lending team by ensuring member loan requests are processed quickly, accurately, and in full compliance with policy, guidelines, and regulatory requirements. This position plays a key role in improving turnaround time and maintaining loan quality by reviewing documentation, verifying stipulations, and preparing loans for funding.
responsibilities:
- Review loan applications and support documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Verify that all loan stipulations are met prior to funding, including income verification, insurance, collateral, and title requirements & proactively attempt to obtain missing or correct in accurate documentation.
- Promptly communicate with lenders, underwriters, and members.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, lending procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Prepare approved loans for funding, confirming all required documents are in place and accurate.
- Maintain accurate records and tracking of pending loans to support efficient pipeline management.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve workflow, documentation, or communication that support faster and higher-quality loan closings.
- Serve as a point of contact between loan officers, funding, and other departments to facilitate timely resolution of issues.
- Contribute to a culture of teamwork, service, and accountability within the lending department.
- Comply with all Federal regulations, Credit Union policies and procedures, including Bank Secrecy and the USA Patriot Act.
- Perform job duties in accordance with the Credit Union's values, mission and vision.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Credit Union or financial institution experience preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in lending, loan processing, or financial services preferred.
- Knowledge of consumer loan products, credit unions, and lending regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a desire to interact with members and credit union employees.
- Ability to multitask and complete duties with accuracy.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite of products.
