Job Description & How to Apply Below

Finance should do more than protect the downside. In a growing company, it should help create the path forward.

McIntyre Elder Law is seeking a Chief Financial Officer who combines disciplined stewardship with entrepreneurial problem-solving. We need a finance leader who can strengthen margins, build a durable cash cushion, create reliable forecasts, develop responsible financing solutions, and help our Founder & CEO and executive team decide not only whether we can grow, but how to do it safely, intelligently, and profitably.

This is not a role for a reflexive gatekeeper. It is also not a role for someone casual about controls. The right CFO will answer ambitious ideas with "yes, if," "not yet, until," or "here is the more financeable path," backed by sound analysis and disciplined execution.

ABOUT McINTYRE ELDER LAW

McIntyre Elder Law is a founder-led, multi-office North Carolina law firm with more than two decades of service to families. Our work includes estate planning, elder law, asset protection, probate and trust administration, benefits planning, and litigation. We are expanding our geographic footprint while investing in people, technology, data, marketing, and better operating systems. The CFO will help build the financial architecture for our next stage of growth.

WHAT

YOU WILL OWN
  • Serve as the principal financial partner to the Founder & CEO and a core member of the executive leadership team.
  • Lead the firm's financial strategy, accounting, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and capital-allocation processes.
  • Build and maintain a rolling 13-week cash forecast, a cash-reserve strategy, and clear weekly visibility into liquidity and upcoming obligations.
  • Create reliable monthly financial reporting, including profitability by office, practice area, service line, and other decision-relevant dimensions.
  • Develop annual budgets, multi-year integrated financial models, and scenario analyses for new offices, attorney and staff hiring, marketing, technology, real estate, and strategic investments.
  • Identify margin opportunities through pricing, staffing models, collections, vendor strategy, process improvement, technology, and smarter capital allocation - not indiscriminate cost‑cutting.
  • Lead banking and financing strategy, including revolving credit, term debt, refinancing, lender relationships, real‑estate financing, acquisitions, and other responsible growth‑capital solutions.
  • Track debt, guarantees, covenants, entity‑level obligations, and financing risks; ensure leadership understands the tradeoffs before commitments are made.
  • Integrate accounting, payroll, banking, Clio, CRM, marketing, and operating data into executive dashboards and a dependable source of financial truth.
  • Oversee and develop the accounting and finance team; establish close calendars, controls, documentation, accountability, and succession depth.
  • Coordinate with outside tax, audit, banking, insurance, and advisory partners.
  • Support legal‑industry financial controls, including client trust‑account processes, while preserving attorney responsibility and professional independence.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Within 30 days: a candid financial‑health diagnostic covering cash, reporting, debt, controls, systems, commitments, team capacity, and major risks.
  • Within 60 days: a functioning 13‑week cash forecast, weekly liquidity reporting, defined reserve methodology, and a disciplined monthly‑close calendar.
  • Within 90 days: an executive dashboard, office and practice‑area economics, an integrated budget and forecast, a cash‑cushion roadmap, and a prioritized margin‑and‑capital plan.
  • Within 12 months: leadership can see true cash, profitability, risk, and growth capacity without relying on disconnected spreadsheets; MEL has stronger financing optionality, clearer investment gates, and a finance team and systems that can scale.
THE BACKGROUND THAT WILL HELP YOU THRIVE
  • 12+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including at least 5 years leading a finance function or serving in a senior finance role.
  • Experience in a founder‑led, multi‑location professional‑services, legal, healthcare, financial‑services, or other complex…
