Role SummaryThe Corporate Actions Analyst is responsible for the administration and oversight of corporate actions and income processes supporting the Barings investment portfolios. The role serves as a subject matter resource to business partners, exercises independent judgement in analyzing operational issues, interprets market events and internal policies, and recommends courses of action regarding matters affecting client servicing and investment operations.
Key Responsibilities- Analyse corporate action and income information and determine appropriate operational treatment through the interpretation of issuer documentation, custodian notifications and market practice guidance, supporting accurate and timely event processing.
- Exercise independent judgement when evaluating exceptions, claims, breaks and other operational issues arising from corporate action and income events.
- Develop and implement process improvement initiatives in collaboration with colleagues across Operations and Technology, and recommend efficiency and control enhancements to operational workflows.
- Contribute to the development, maintenance and enhancement of procedures, operational controls and supporting documentation.
- Represent Corporate Actions in cross-functional working groups, project initiatives, and discussions with custodians regarding service quality, event processing and issue resolution.
- Review restructuring event documentation, determine operational processing requirements, coordinate implementation activities, and communicate event impacts to relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to private ratings activities through the interpretation of rating agency requirements, monitoring renewal schedules, communication with internal and external stakeholders, and analysis of portfolio cost allocations associated with ratings activity.
The role is expected to evaluate facts, understand market events and internal procedures, prioritise competing requirements and make recommendations regarding operational issues and processing outcomes. Work is performed independently within established policies and procedures.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- 2+ years of experience in investment operations, corporate actions, custody, fund administration or related financial services activities.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex operational issues and recommend solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience with Aladdin or similar investment operations platforms preferred.
- Applies sound judgement when evaluating corporate action and income events, interpreting event documentation, assessing alternatives and recommending appropriate courses of action within established policies and procedures.
- Analyses complex information, identifies root causes of operational issues, evaluates potential solutions and provides clear, well-reasoned recommendations.
- Maintains a strong awareness of operational risks and controls, identifies potential issues, supports the maintenance of a controlled operating environment and contributes to continuous improvement activities.
- Builds effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communicates complex information clearly and provides timely guidance on operational matters.
- Effectively manages competing priorities, responds to time-sensitive events and deadlines, and maintains accuracy whilst working across multiple activities and responsibilities.
- Seeks opportunities to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, supports change initiatives and demonstrates a willingness to develop knowledge and expertise across the corporate actions and income function.
- Works collaboratively across Operations, Technology, Portfolio Management, Compliance, Legal and external counter parties to achieve successful operational outcomes.
