MissionThe Housing Assistance Corporation is a non‑profit organization committed to providing safe and affordable housing for persons of limited income living in Henderson County, North Carolina, and surrounding areas. Reporting StructureThe Finance Specialist is a new position and will report to the Director of Finance.
Total Staff and Budget29 staff members and an annual budget of $10M.
SalarySalary is commensurate with experience and ranges between $45,000 to $52,000.

Key Responsibilities of the Finance SpecialistReporting to the Director of Finance, this role ensures the day‑to‑day accounting operations run smoothly.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing accounts payable and receivable.
- Day‑to‑day bookkeeping using Quick Books Online.
- Supporting financial reporting and audits.
- Monthly reconciliations/Month‑end and year‑end close.
- Ensuring transactions are properly allocated to grants and programs.
- Assisting with grant billings.
- Credit card reconciliations.
- Expense reimbursement processing.
- Payroll support.
- Communicating with staff, vendors, and external partners.
- Managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Supporting the Director of Finance with special projects.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Two to four years of experience and responsibility for reconciliations, reporting, grants, payroll support and accounting systems.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards.
- Experience with federal, state, and private grants management, compliance, and audit processes.
- High proficiency in Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel.
- Highest standards of integrity, judgment, and confidentiality.
- Alignment to the mission, vision, and core values.
- Experience in nonprofit accounting, finance, business Administration, or related field required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Since joining the initiative, they have diversified and increased multifamily housing production and single‑family housing production by 50%, added an alternative program for single‑family housing, expanded their Home Repair Programs, and initiated a Fall Prevention Program.
