The Role at a GlanceIn this position, within the Loan Production Team, you will directly contribute to the annual origination of $2 billion of commercial mortgage investments. Additional responsibilities involve the ongoing management of the $17 billion commercial mortgage portfolio. The ideal candidate is looking for increased origination responsibilities and to contribute as a leader providing guidance to junior analysts.
What you'll be doing- Lead business development through mortgage banking relationships within assigned geographic territory.
- Review and underwrite new commercial real estate loans and present analysis and investment recommendations to the Managing Director(s) and Head of Origination.
- Draft term sheets, application/commitment letters, and other transaction related documents.
- Complete due diligence including review of leases, rent rolls, third party reports, estoppels, and other business-related matters.
- Work with legal counsel to negotiate transaction documents.
- Draft investment committee memos and present for approval to the Head of Real Estate.
- Serve as business liaison throughout the loan closing process working collaboratively with appropriate internal/external stakeholders to effectuate a timely closing.
- Actively involved in training and oversight of junior team members.
- Travel independently on due diligence and business development trips.
- Support Portfolio Management through surveillance of existing loan portfolio.
- Additional investment support may include equity and credit fund investments.
- Handle special servicing requests as requested.
- 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's) - Minimum Required
- 7+ Years’ experience required in commercial real estate finance and/or commercial real estate investment and analysis that aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position.
- Experience analyzing asset lending transactions.
- Knowledge of commercial real estate principles and valuation methods.
- Knowledge of national commercial real estate markets and macro-economic trends that affect those markets.
- Ability to understand and evaluate real estate financial statements.
- Knowledge of real estate legal concepts and understanding of loan documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Power Point
- Experience with Costar and Argus preferred.
- Advanced degrees and/or certifications strongly preferred.
- Travel: 20%-30% (intermittent)
