Our client is a global leader in supply chain, logistics, and transportation solutions. Based out of Charlotte, NC, they are looking to hire a Payroll Manager on a Contract-to-Hire basis. This position requires candidates to be onsite 4 days per week.
If you're a payroll professional looking to step into a leadership role with visibility across a large-scale U.S. payroll operation, this is an outstanding opportunity. You'll oversee end-to-end payroll processes, partner closely with HR and Finance, and help drive process improvements that directly impact the employee experience. The ideal candidate is a hands-on payroll leader who has experience managing a small team of up to 2 direct reports, thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex payroll challenges, and wants to contribute to the modernization and optimization of payroll operations while positioning themselves for long-term growth.
Contract Duration: 6-12 Months
Required Skills & Experience- 7+ years of progressive payroll experience managing full-cycle payroll operations
- Current payroll certification required (CPP, FPC, PCP, or equivalent)
- Experience overseeing payroll compliance, taxation, garnishments, wage and hour laws, and statutory deductions
- Experience reviewing payroll reconciliations, audits, and exception reporting
- Previous leadership experience managing or mentoring up to 2 direct reports
- Strong understanding of U.S. payroll regulations and compliance requirements
- Bach Experience with SAP
- Success Factors experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred
- Experience in logistics, transportation, distribution, or other large enterprise environments
- Experience driving payroll process improvements and operational efficiencies
- Exposure to multi-state payroll environments

- Manage and oversee full-cycle payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees across the U.S.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Review and approve payroll outputs, reconciliations, and exception reports
- Lead, mentor, and support a payroll team of up to 2 direct reports
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex payroll-related issues
- Partner with HR, Finance, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and Benefits teams
- Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and strengthen controls
- Support year-end payroll activities, reporting, and statutory remittances
