The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is your fiscal watchdog. We audit more than $100 billion in state assets and liabilities each year, bringing transparency to local, state, and federal government. Our reports and findings include recommendations that result in good government reforms. OSA thoroughly investigates alleged cases of fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars, working with law enforcement on prosecution when warranted.

** This position is designated as Exempt Policy-Making under G.S. 126-5(c)(3) and is considered an at-will appointment.
The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a Grants Specialist I to serve within our Rapid Response Division. This position will help ensure grant funding given to North Carolina public entities are properly used.
As part of our team, you will get to:

• Work as part of a team to plan and conduct audits of a variety of grants being used by public state entities  
• Speak with auditees, agency management, and legislators to understand the programs under an audit  
• Conduct on-site fieldwork, including information gathering and interviews, to determine:  Risks impacting the program under an audit and to identify processes and controls that mitigate program risks  
• Review and analyze source records, programmatic data, financial and program documentation, and/or systems  
• Document the results of your work and any potential findings and recommendations
