What We Offer
The Diabetes Educator RN provides diabetes education, information and training to patients, family, staff and the community that responds to individualized needs in accordance with the current policies and procedures.
What You'll DoJob responsibilities will include the following:
- Provide education and training to patients newly diagnosed with diabetes.
- Process prior authorizations (PA) accurately and in a timely manner.
- Verify insurance coverage and handle communications with insurance companies.
- Assist with patient rooming as needed (occasionally).
- Education:
4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course. - Experience:
Minimum of two years of clinical experience in nursing, required. - Licensure/Certification:
- Registered Nurse currently licensed in NC, BLS, required.
- Certified Diabetes Educator, preferred.
- Additional Skills (required):
Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Knowledge, ability and skills to support diabetes education to accommodate cultural diversity, age specific or behavioral needs among the patients being served. Refer to Life Support Training Policy NH-HR-3096
