Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Levine Children's Hospital Satellite Pharmacy and Medical Center Plaza Infusion Pharmacy. Works in conjunction with the Pediatric Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor to help develop and implement pharmacy departmental policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Works under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Manager. Variable Schedule. FT

$63.45 - $95.20

Essential Functions
  • Makes decisions regarding employment, promotion, discipline, and termination of pharmacy team members in collaboration with Pharmacy Leadership.
  • Evaluates pharmacy teammate job performances on an annual basis. Ensures that the pharmacy department adheres to all regulatory bodies including, but not limited to the DEA, the FDA and applicable state Board of Pharmacy.
  • Oversees pharmacy staffing and scheduling to ensure safe patient care.
  • Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services and participates in various committees.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures promoting safe and effective use of medications are followed.
  • Assists in the planning of new and/or revised pharmacy services based on new innovations, technology and/or regulatory changes.
  • Assesses and improves the performance of the pharmacy services provided. Provides an ongoing assessment of care and services provided through organizational processes.
  • Coordinates the implementation plan and supports decisions made by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Initiates the proper training of pharmacy teammates in area of responsibilities.
  • Designs, recommends, monitors and evaluates patient specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens
  • Supervises daily preparation and dispensing of all pharmaceuticals.
Physical Requirements

Works primarily in the pharmacy. Delivers medications to nursing units. Requires considerable walking, standing, pushing mobile cart of 50 pounds maximum and lifting 25 pounds of material. May be required to frequently stretch, bend, twist, squat, or kneel to perform job. Exposure to cancer chemotherapy agents. Otherwise, hazards are very minor such as minor cuts, bruises, and non-contaminated needle pricks. Exposed to various conditions throughout the workday such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs and changes in temperature and humidity.

Must be able to perform manipulative skills such as writing, typing, and data entry into the computer and automated dispensing machines. Must have use of both hands, be able to see clearly and read small type such as that on unit-dose medication packages and syringes. Must be able to speak and be understood by others. Must be able to hear normal sounds with moderate background noises.

Education,

Experience and Certifications

Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or a Pharm

D from an accredited school of pharmacy required. Licensed in the state of applicable state or eligible for reciprocity required. 2 years of work related experience in pharmacy required. Completion of PGY2 residency in pediatrics preferred or equivalent experience in clinical practice
