Next Step Prosthetic s is seeking a motivated, team‑oriented Prosthetic Assistant / Technician to join our growing practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position is designed to support our prosthetists by taking on clinical, technical, and operational responsibilities, allowing them to focus on higher‑level prosthetic care and increased patient access.

This is a hands‑on support role for someone who takes pride in helping the entire clinic run smoothly — from patient care to lab organization — and whose personality aligns with Our Mission:

• Actively support prosthetists during patient evaluations, fittings, and follow‑up visits
• Assist with and complete evaluation and progress notes in the EMR under prosthetist direction
• Prepare patient rooms before appointments and restore them afterward for the next patient
• Take measurements and assist with casting procedures
• Create accurate prosthetic summaries and supporting documentation for prescribing physicians
• Attend select off‑site appointments with surgeons and PM&R physicians to support coordinated care
• Follow up with patients who are healing post‑amputation in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), under prosthetist direction, to:

• Check on limb healing and readiness milestones
• Reinforce education and expectations related to prosthetic care
• Communicate updates back to the prosthetist and care team

• Function as a clinical assistant, not an independent provider, and defer clinical decision‑making to the prosthetist

• Digitize casts and manage digital fabrication files
• Prepare and submit central fabrication orders, including shipping casts or digital images
• Operate and maintain 3D printers for diagnostic socket production
• Assemble and bench‑align prosthetic devices under prosthetist direction
• Maintain a clean, organized lab, patient rooms, and work areas at all times
• Ensure patient room tools and supplies are clean, stocked, and ready for use
• Manage inventory and order prosthetic components, lab materials, and clinical supplies
• Maintain the prosthetichome care mobile lab (van), including cleanliness, organization, and stocking of supplies and tools
• Perform routine clinic and lab duties, including cleaning work spaces and taking out trash as needed

• ABC Certified Prosthetic Assistant (CPA), ABC Certified Prosthetic Technician (CPT), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in prosthetics, orthotics, or clinical healthcare preferred
• Strong hand skills and comfort working with tools, materials, and fabrication processes
• Willingness to assist with all aspects of clinic, lab, and mobile‑lab operations, including non‑clinical tasks
• Ability to follow direction, support prosthetists, and work collaboratively as part of a team
• Patient‑focused, humble, dependable, and eager to learn and grow within the field
