Laboratory Analyst III; Chemistry

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst III (Chemistry) in Pineville, NC. Ideal candidate must have five years hands on experience in environmental chemistry.

• Prepare and analyze samples to quantitatively measure chemical and physical properties in a variety of matrices: water, air, soil, and/or solids
• Familiarity with EPA, NIOSH, OSHA, and/or other potential methodologies
• Understanding of ISO 17025, NELAC, AIHA and/or other state accreditation program requirements
• Follow standard operating procedures, quality control procedures, and data validation established for each analytical method
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical equipment and instruments
• Perform basic chemistry tasks such as pipetting, performance of volumetric measurements and the utilization of analytical balances
• Perform calculations and conversions, and compile the data obtained
• Be comfortable in a laboratory setting involving the use laboratory grade acids, solvents and other reagents that require care in use and when handling

• Bachelors in a chemical or physical science field of study
• Five+ years’ experience in a commercial production laboratory
• Experience with one or more of the following instruments: GC, GC-MS, HPLC, ICP, ICP-MS, FLAA and/or XRD
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, be able to multi-task and prioritize assignment
• Must be able to work independently and with a team
• Must be concise, organized, and meticulous regarding work assignments
• Knowledge of basic computer skills such Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is required
• Flexibility to work alternate hours and overtime may be required to meet business demands

• Position is full-time Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
