  • Provide real‑time ultrasound guidance to physicians during complex procedures such as chorionic villus sampling (CVS) and other fetal or diagnostic interventions.
  • Critically evaluate and analyze images for quality, accuracy, and diagnostic value; repeat or adjust studies as clinically indicated.
  • Maintain strong technical proficiency to ensure optimal imaging outcomes and patient safety.
Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and reset rooms between patients, ensuring linens, supplies, and equipment are fully stocked and ready.
  • Perform routine equipment checks and quality control to maintain operational readiness and image reliability.
Patient Interaction & Human Experience
  • Explain procedures clearly and compassionately, using plain language and teach‑back methods to ensure understanding.
  • Create a calm, reassuring environment that reduces anxiety and builds trust, particularly for patients navigating complex or high‑risk pregnancies.
  • Keep patients informed regarding visit flow, timing, and next steps.
  • Demonstrate empathy, cultural sensitivity, and respect for the unique needs of every patient and family.
Team Collaboration & Professionalism
  • Communicate effectively with OB/GYN physicians, nurses, and fellow sonographers to coordinate seamless care.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a team‑first mindset to support departmental needs and patient volume.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Uphold and model Novant Health’s mission, values, and first‑do‑no‑harm safety behaviours in all interactions.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education:

High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Graduate of AMA‑approved RT program; specialties may include abdomen, breast, fetal echocardiography, neuro‑oncology, obstetrics and gynecology, adult echocardiography, pediatric echocardiography, vascular technology, or musculoskeletal sonography.
  • Experience:

One year experience in sonography (preferred).
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: ARRT and/or ARDMS certified or board‑eligible (required); ARDMS certification within first year of employment (required).
  • Additional skills:
Ability to complete generic and department‑specific skills validation and competency testing; strong communication skills; ability to function independently in diagnostic rooms; working knowledge of various x‑ray equipment; ability to adapt to new situations and procedures according to patient age‑specific needs.
