Overview
Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a dedicated Lead Direct Support Provider (DSP) to join our Residential Services team. This role supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and/or mental health (MH) needs in a group home setting. The Lead DSP provides direct care and also leads a team of DSPs during assigned shifts to ensure a safe, person-centered, and engaging home environment.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Schedule may include two weekdays and one weekend day per week, with rotation based on program needs. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the group home, with shift assignments communicated in advance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support DSPs during your assigned shift.
- Help residents with daily tasks like hygiene, meals, and getting around.
- Follow and implement care plans created by clinical staff.
- Encourage skill-building, social activities, and community involvement.
- Administer medications and document them properly.
- Keep clear, accurate records of care and incidents.
- Communicate important updates with your team and supervisor.
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
- Assist with housekeeping and meal preparation based on residents’ needs.
- Participate in staff meetings and required training.
- Follow agency policies and maintain a professional approach.
- Organize weekly staff schedules and daily activities.
- Guide and support DSPs with feedback and coaching.
- Ensure care plans and safety standards are followed at all times.

- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of experience working with individuals with IDD or MH needs preferred.
- Valid, unrestricted North Carolina driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Current auto insurance and clean driving record required.
