Position Title: Environmental Health & Safety Student Employee
Position Type: Part time
Location: Charlotte, NC
Job Summary and DescriptionThe Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Student will provide support to the EHS Team in the implementation and oversight of EPRI's EHS program, policies, and initiatives.
Responsibilities- Providing support for EPRI's Chemical Control and Hazardous Waste Programs including assisting sites with chemical storage and SDS management
- Support and update EPRI's EHS webpage
- Support EHS team, programs and initiatives including the site Emergency Response Teams and Corporate Safety Committees
- Assist with scheduling facility safety evaluations/walkdowns while obtaining and uploading safety evaluations
- Must be a currently enrolled student at an accredited university
- Has completed 2 years of undergraduate studies or currently in a master’s degree
- Exhibits high initiative
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Must be able to work out of the EPRI Charlotte Office
- Familiar with OSHA standards or EPA regulations
- Experience with safety guidelines
- This internship is intended to be a multi-semester position working part time during school year and full-time during summer/winter break
- Rising junior, incoming senior, or first‑year master's student pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or Natural Sciences (preferred)
- Undergraduate: $16-29 per hour
- Masters: $27-33 per hour
- Ph.D: $31-36 per hour
These ranges are an estimate, and the actual hourly rate may vary based on various factors, including, without limitation, applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The hourly rate may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
As an EPRI Student, you will not participate in EPRI's Benefit Programs which includes health insurance, retirement benefits, vacation, sick leave (except as set required by law) and holiday pay. However, as a Student employee you are eligible for the benefits of Social Security, State Disability Insurance, and Workers' Compensation Insurance.
For Student positions which require relocation to an EPRI office, relocation assistance is not provided and the student will be responsible for covering all relocation costs/expenses.
EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA). EPRI uses the system to check the work status of new hires by comparing information from the employee's I-9 form against SSA and Department of Homeland Security databases.
