The Benefits Manager is responsible for the design, administration, and compliance of the organization’s employee benefits programs. This role ensures competitive, cost-effective benefits offerings while maintaining regulatory compliance and delivering a positive employee experience.
The Benefits Manager partners with HR/Payroll, Finance, and external vendors to support the overall benefits strategy. The Benefits Manager reports to the Human Resources Director.
- Oversee the administration of all employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401k, leave programs, life balance, COBRA, HSA, FSA and dependent care.
- Manage relationships with benefits brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, and other vendors.
- Lead annual open enrollment planning and execution, including employee communications and system configuration.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA).
- Monitor benefits costs and analyze utilization data to recommend plan design changes and cost-containment strategies.
- Manage leave administration and ensure consistent application of policies.
- Develop and maintain clear benefits communications and educational materials for employees.
- Serve as subject matter expert and escalation point for complex benefits issues.
- Maintain accurate benefits data within HRIS and ensure data integrity.
- Support audits, filings, and required reporting (e.g., Form 5500, ACA reporting, 401k/retirement plan).
- Evaluate and recommend enhancements to improve employee engagement and retention.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience will be considered).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration.
- Experience managing vendors and negotiating contracts is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits regulations and compliance requirements.
- Acquisition experience is preferred.
- Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration systems.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
- An individual that understands the value of providing a high level of customer service.
Flores
HR’s standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET with an hour lunch. Roles may be approved for other schedules by managers. This role operates in a professional hybrid office environment based out of our Charlotte office (off West Morehead) (3+ days in office). This role is mostly sedentary and consists of prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
This role also utilizes other tools such as a phone, copy machine, and printer. Common programs often used are Outlook, Word, and Excel. This position frequently communicates with Flores
HR team members and candidates and must be able to exchange accurate information clearly in these situations.
