The people we are looking for are to staff a 1B team (First Line of Defense Assurance Team) that must incorporate components of risk domains that are beyond cyber and technology (Risk Marketplace or RMP). Tasks and requirements for this role would include:

• Business-level understanding of risk impacts – not just on the piece of technology being evaluated, but how risk within the technology space would translate to business processes and impacts – an operational understanding
• Predictive Risk Analytics leveraging disparate internal and external metrics – akin to data science roles
• Audit-styled Risk identification – taking a proactive approach to investigate areas within the purview of the client to identify risk before exposure
• Contract review for risk beyond standard requirements compliance – work directly with 1A and Vendor Management partners to review contracts and identify areas of risk
• Industry certification support (ISO, SOC1 and
  2).
• Risk management tool development for analytics and reporting.

key element of these updated requirements is to have an understanding beyond cyber and technology – while not needing to be an expert, the Risk Marketplace role within TD expects the incumbent to understand enough of each area of risk (such as Legal, Fraud, AML, Financial, Compliance) to opine on the specific risk and to “connect the dots” between a technology component and a risk to the business, and engage appropriate risk partners when necessary.

Note that this is not a “traditional risk person” in the sense that this team will work with harvesting traditional data to identify risk using predictive analytics, this is not a GRC focused role, more aligned to Financial Operations. They need to understand tech and how it works withing risk (“the math & science” behind risk) – not just how to create a questionnaire and compile the answers.

From a fit perspective, we are looking for people who have a delivery mindset and are the type of people who can “Mac Gyver” a solution; use the tools at hand to extract data from system to identify areas of risk. These people would have familiarity with industry standard tools like Power

BI, Tableau, Archer, Service Now (IRM).
