Senior Data Engineer

We’re partnering with a well-established, data-driven insurance organisation undergoing a major transformation of its data and analytics platform. They are scaling their Data Engineering practice to support analytics, actuarial insight, and machine-learning use cases across the business.

This is a hands-on senior role for someone who enjoys building robust data foundations, shaping best practices, and working closely with analytics and data science teams.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing and building batch and streaming data pipelines on a modern cloud platform
• Working with complex domains such as claims, underwriting, pricing, and marketing
• Developing curated, analytics-ready datasets using medallion-style architectures
• Supporting Power BI models and downstream analytics use cases
• Partnering with architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders

What they’re looking for

• Strong experience with Databricks
• Python, PySpark, and SQL
• Solid understanding of data modelling (not just moving data)
• Experience with batch and real-time processing (Kafka or similar a plus)
• Familiarity with file formats such as JSON / XML
• Understanding of CI/CD within data platforms
• Background in insurance, banking, or regulated environments is ideal (but not essential)
