NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Senior Manager, Development based in our Charlotte, North Carolina office.

Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering efforts across backend and frontend systems, focusing on scalable architecture and clean, maintainable code.
  • Develop new features using PHP, HTML, CSS, Node.js, JavaScript, Type Script, and jQuery, leveraging existing plugins and components to support both legacy systems and headless CMS integrations.
  • Build and maintain content models, APIs, and frontend integration patterns in Contentstack or similar headless CMS platforms.
  • Support existing Word Press implementations during the platform transition; maintain familiarity with legacy architecture.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and operations teams to deliver performant digital experiences.
  • Utilize AWS services (e.g., Lambda, S3, Cloud Front) to deploy and scale backend services and assets.
  • Develop and maintain frontend integrations using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Type Script) in a decoupled CMS architecture.
  • Participate in system testing, QA, and deployment coordination—including support for live event operations.
  • Optimize performance across desktop and mobile platforms through frontend and backend improvements.
  • Maintain technical documentation, enforce coding standards, and mentor other developers on best practices.
  • Work closely with visual designers to bridge design and engineering work efforts.
  • Partner with the Technical Operations team to support Live Race Events (occasional weekends on-site).
  • Partner with the Technical Operations team to support the deployment of new website releases (occasional weekday nights).
  • Travel: 5% including weekends.
Required skills / experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from four (4) year college or university plus a minimum six (6) years of current Web Development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working within the sports industry, ideally working with sports leagues or governing bodies preferred.
  • Proficient in developing scalable web applications using PHP, Node.js, and Type Script for high-traffic, consumer-facing websites.
  • Experienced with headless CMS platforms such as Contentstack, with working knowledge of legacy systems like Word Press.
  • Skilled in building responsive frontends using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js), and in deploying and managing services on AWS (Lambda, S3, Cloud Front, etc.).
  • Strong experience with version control systems such as Git and SVN, and comfortable working in UNIX-based environments.
  • Familiar with mobile development patterns, performance optimization, and cross-platform delivery.
  • Experience administering and developing with Ad Serving platforms and tools; developing websites using responsive design; developing for and within an enterprise CMS; architecting large technical solutions; working in a UNIX environment preferred.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to digest research, traffic data, and behavioral data and determine the course of action accordingly. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to conduct research into application integration issues and products.
  • Strong documentation, system design, and architecture diagramming skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Understanding of web standards and protocols (HTML, CSS, HTTP, etc.)
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Experience working in media, live events, or sports-related digital platforms.
  • Familiarity with content migration strategies and CMS transition planning.
  • Experience building frontends in headless CMS environments using JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js, Vue).
