Systems Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a Capacity Planner with strong analytical and infrastructure skills to support performance forecasting and systems planning across midrange platforms. This role centers on ensuring scalability, system reliability, and proactive risk mitigation through data‑driven insights.

- Midrange systems expertise across AIX, RHEL, Solaris, and VMware environments
- Monitoring & optimization using True Sight, SAR/vmstat, Perf Mon, and related tools
- Strong analytical, statistical, and troubleshooting skills
- Lead capacity planning and performance management for midrange systems
- Build and refine forecasting models to predict future infrastructure needs
- Provide executive‑level summaries and actionable performance insights
- Analyze performance data and test results using monitoring and APM tools
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to model system growth and optimize performance
- Review technical documentation to assess capacity impacts
- Support audit, compliance, and risk‑related activities
- Contribute to ITSM practices, disaster recovery planning, and governance initiatives
- Recommend improvements for infrastructure and application performance
- 3‑5+ years in capacity management, performance engineering, or related infrastructure roles
- Familiarity with Splunk, App Dynamics, Dynatrace, True Sight, SAR/vmstat, and Perf Mon
- Understanding of ITIL, COBIT, and Agile methodologies
- Experience working with midrange OS, virtualization platforms, databases, web servers, backup tools, and storage systems
- Exposure to scripting/automation tools such as shell scripting, Python, or Ansible
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that enterprise systems remain scalable, efficient, and resilient. By proactively forecasting capacity needs and identifying bottlenecks, the Capacity Planner helps minimize risk, optimize resource utilization, and support strategic infrastructure planning.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.24 - $73.68/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
