The Senior Director of the Data & AI Defense Office provides enterprise leadership in safeguarding the responsible use of data and artificial intelligence. The role directs key data protection functions, ensures adherence to data and AI governance standards, and partners with security, privacy, and risk to maintain robust enterprise controls. It also oversees execution of the Responsible AI Framework and ensures that data and AI use practices—including those involving critical suppliers—align with organizational policies and regulatory expectations.

- Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Manages Vanguard's most complex, transformational, technology-related programs with organization-wide impact. Drives all phases of the program lifecycle from inception through implementation while ensuring that business objectives are delivered with high quality and within targeted time frames.
- Enable the responsible use of data and AI by leading enterprise functions for Data Discovery, Data Classification, Data De-identification and Data Deletion while partnering across the enterprise to deliver key capabilities.
- Oversee enterprise data and AI governance team ensuring policy and standards are met. Closely partner with security, privacy and risk to ensure enterprise requirements and policies are in place and actively monitored.
- Manage the execution of the responsible AI framework including intake, assessments, monitoring, oversight and decision‑making bodies.
- Oversee data egress requirements and controls. Oversee the responsible use of data with critical supplier relationships.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of twelve years related work experience, with experience in large multi‑year technology programs. Previous people‑leadership experience required.
- Undergraduate degree in related field (Computer Science, Engineering) required. Graduate degree preferred.
