Payments Consultant – SWIFT SME (Fedwire Payments & Commodities Confirmations)

We are seeking a SWIFT Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a strategic initiative focused on Fedwire payments, SWIFT messaging (MT600), and commodities confirmations. The consultant will provide deep expertise in SWIFT message structures, payment rails (Fedwire vs. ACH), and ISO 20022 transitions, helping internal teams design, interpret, and map SWIFT communications within a centralized confirmations system.

The organization is building and enhancing a consolidated Confirmations & Settlements (C&F) platform and requires an experienced professional who understands the intricacies, sequencing, and configuration logic of SWIFT messages—particularly within commodities and payments environments.

• Serve as the SWIFT SME across Payments and Commodities work streams
• Interpret and advise on SWIFT messaging standards, including MT600 series messages
• Provide expertise on Fedwire payment rails vs. ACH structures
• Guide teams through ISO 20022 (Fed ISO) messaging changes and format transitions
• Partner with Commodities system owners to map SWIFT messages to booking system fields
• Advise on message sequencing, scenarios, and confirmation logic
• Support the design and configuration of a centralized confirmations system
• Recommend best practices around static data centralization and standardization
• Collaborate with Product & Strategic Delivery and project teams to scope and guide implementation decisions
• Provide insight based on industry standards from major financial institutions

• Deep expertise in SWIFT messaging standards, including MT message categories (specifically MT600)
• Strong understanding of Fedwire payments and payment rail structures
• Experience with ISO 20022 (Fed ISO) transformation initiatives
• Background in payments operations, confirmations, or derivative operations
• Ability to interpret SWIFT messages and translate them into system mapping and configuration requirements
• Experience working within large financial institutions (e.g., JPMorgan, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, or similar)

• Experience with Commodities products, particularly:
• Natural gas
• Physical commodities
• Forward products
• Metals (highly desirable)
• Exposure to FX-related SWIFT messaging
• Experience supporting enterprise-wide confirmation system builds

• High-visibility project at its early stages
• Opportunity to shape SWIFT and confirmations strategy across multiple lines of business
• Significant impact in building internal SWIFT capability where depth currently does not exist
• Potential to influence enterprise-level design decisions
