The RoleXylem is seeking a Director, IT Strategy and Enterprise Architecture to oversee the IT Strategy and Enterprise Architecture functions. This role is responsible for defining, evolving, and communicating the company’s enterprise-wide IT strategy while owning and maturing the enterprise architecture capability across Xylem’s global IT landscape.
You will partner closely with the IT Leadership Team and business executives to ensure technology investments, roadmaps, and architectures align with business priorities and enable long‐term value creation. The role leads a high‑performing enterprise architecture team, governs the IT portfolio, and drives innovation, operational excellence, and strategic decision‑making through data‑driven insights.
Core Responsibilities Strategic Planning & LeadershipDevelop, communicate, and annually refresh the enterprise IT Strategy framework and long‑range planning (LRP) roadmap
Translate business strategy into business capability maps and technology roadmaps
Provide thought leadership on macro technology trends, risks, and innovation opportunities
Serve as the face of IT to the business for portfolio solution alignment and advisory
Establish and maintain enterprise architecture principles, standards, patterns, and best practices
Lead Enterprise Architecture Review Board and governance processes
Oversee architecture decision records and compliance with established frameworks
Ensure scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise solutions across global platforms
Govern the IT portfolio to ensure strategic alignment and prevent redundant solutions
Track application lifecycle, technical debt, and value realization
Facilitate prioritization of demand based on business value and strategic alignment
Provide executive‑level portfolio and application health reporting
Partner with BRM and Service Delivery leaders to optimize investments
Establish communication frameworks for enterprise technology initiatives
Communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
Provide portfolio insights in business updates and leadership forums
Build strong relationships with business leaders, vendors, and partners
Apply external benchmarking and competitive insights to drive innovation
Lead technology‑enabled process improvement initiatives
Support PMO governance through architecture reviews and demand screening
Participate in quality gate reviews and standards development
Lead and develop a high‑performing global enterprise architecture team
Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Champion change, modernization, and enterprise adoption of standards
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
10–12+ years of IT experience in large or multinational organizations
Minimum 5 years leading IT Strategy or Enterprise Architecture functions
Experience in portfolio governance, strategic planning, and enterprise architecture frameworks
Strong organizational and governance leadership capabilities
Executive‑level communication and presentation skills
Solid understanding of IT financial planning and business operations
Knowledge of cloud computing, ERP transformation, cybersecurity, and data platforms
Ability to influence across formal and informal organizational structures
Strong attention to detail and decision‑making based on analytics and business value
Ability to align IT initiatives to strategic goals
