Position Summary

The IT Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and support of enterprise network security and remote access solutions. This role provides technical expertise in Palo Alto firewalls, Prisma Access, Strata Cloud Manager, and Global Protect to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient network connectivity. The position also supports incident, service request, and change activities through Cherwell and/or Ivanti ticketing systems, while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to established operational processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and support Palo Alto Networks firewalls in an enterprise environment
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Prisma Access and Global Protect remote access solutions
  • Utilize Strata Cloud Manager for policy administration, monitoring, reporting, and operational support
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, firewall, VPN, and security policy issues
  • Analyze logs, alerts, and traffic flows to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Implement firewall policy changes, NAT updates, and security rule modifications in accordance with change management procedures
  • Monitor network and security infrastructure performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and security
  • Respond to incidents, service requests, and problem tickets using Cherwell and/or Ivanti
  • Document technical issues, troubleshooting steps, root cause analysis, and final resolutions in the ticketing system
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional IT teams, vendors, and business partners to support network operations and resolve escalated issues
  • Participate in system maintenance, upgrades, patching, and after‑hours support activities as required
  • Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge articles related to supported systems
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience supporting enterprise network and security environments
  • Hands‑on experience with Palo Alto firewalls
  • Working knowledge of Prisma Access, Strata Cloud Manager, and Global Protect
  • Experience troubleshooting network security, VPN, and connectivity issues
  • Experience using Cherwell and/or Ivanti ticketing systems
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, DNS, DHCP, VPN technologies, and firewall policy management
  • Ability to analyze logs and system behavior to diagnose technical issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in large enterprise or managed service environments
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes for incident, problem, and change management
  • Experience supporting cloud‑managed security platforms
  • Knowledge of network monitoring and reporting tools

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced technical environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences

Working Conditions
  • Primarily office‑based or hybrid work environment
  • May require after‑hours, weekend, or on‑call support based on operational needs
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting, working at a computer, and participating in virtual or in‑person meetings
