IONNA is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to own and evolve the data infrastructure that powers our EV charging operations. The Technology team is a mission‑driven group committed to delivering the best driver experience in the EV charging industry. Our data lake underpins everything from real‑time operational monitoring to company‑wide KPIs like Charge Success Rate, and this role is responsible for keeping it reliable, performant, and trustworthy.
You will own the full lifecycle of our analytical database — schema design, materialized views, data pipelines, and the KPI calculations that drive business decisions. You will work across our medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold) built on Apache Doris, design and maintain streaming and batch data pipelines on AWS, and build the SDK that makes our data accessible to the rest of the engineering organization.
Key Responsibilities Database & Schema Ownership- Own the Apache Doris data lake schema, including table design, partitioning strategy, and materialized view lifecycle across bronze, silver, and gold layers.
- Design and optimize materialized views for incremental refresh, managing partition alignment, trigger tables, and refresh performance.
- Manage database schema evolution, writing and applying migrations to maintain consistency across environments.
- Maintain schema documentation to ensure clarity and alignment across teams.
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that ingest data from multiple sources into the data lake.
- Build and maintain pipeline infrastructure on AWS (S3, Lambda, MSK/Kafka, Secrets Manager).
- Develop pipeline components in Type Script depending on the service context.
- Own the KPI calculation layer — session success rates, visit metrics, daily operational dashboards, and waterfall analyses.
- Monitor and validate KPI accuracy, investigating discrepancies and ensuring alignment between raw data and reported metrics.
- Partner with operations and business stakeholders to translate business questions into reliable, automated data products.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, with a minimum of 5 years in data engineering or data platform roles.
- SQL & Data Warehousing: Expert‑level SQL skills and deep experience with analytical databases or data warehouse technologies. Strong understanding of partitioning, materialized views, and query optimization.
- Data Architecture: Proven experience designing and operating a medallion or layered data architecture at scale.
- Programming
Languages:
Proficient in at least one language from our tech stack:
Python, Type Script, or Kotlin. - AWS: Hands‑on experience with core data services — S3, Lambda, Secrets Manager, and managed Kafka (MSK) or equivalent streaming platforms.
- Apache Kafka: Experience building and maintaining streaming data pipelines, including schema management and consumer/producer patterns.
- Git & CI/CD: Comfortable with Git workflows, automated linting/testing, and continuous delivery practices.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to debug complex data quality issues across multiple systems.
- Excellent communication skills — able to explain data architecture decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience with Apache Doris specifically, or similar databases.
- Knowledge of the EV charging industry, including protocols such as OCPP, ISO 15118, or OCPI.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm).
- Familiarity with dashboarding/BI tools and building data products for business users (Superset, PowerBI).
- Experience with data pipeline orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Step Functions, or similar).
