BI Architect II is responsible for creating solution blueprints, high-level design and implementation strategies, logical and physical data models for end-to-end business intelligence and data warehousing solutions. This position will support BI Data Quality Management organization that is responsible for data quality assurance from various data sources to ensure data integrity and information usability for internal decision-making.
This role requires a motivated professional who can collaborate with leadership and business units to understand information need, document strategic and operational needs, identify and remediate data quality framework capability gaps, design data quality tooling, and architect improvements to the landscape.
MajorDuties And Responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with BI delivery team leaders, business analysts and business leaders to understand data quality requirements and end user’s needs
- Translate business requirements and end user’s needs into architecture blueprints that deliver cost effective & high performing, high quality BI solutions in compliance with Charter standards, policies and long-term technical strategies
- Responsible for design and documentation of the architectural vision; conceptual, logical, and physical models; ER diagrams; data flows; and process models for the BI Data Quality data marts
- Present proposed solution blueprints to the Architecture Review Board. Communicate database designs to business and technical audiences
- Lead the process of identifying opportunities to improve data quality alignment in accordance with the business objectives
- Provide architectural expertise, thought leadership, direction, and assistance to Data Quality organization
- Perform impact analysis, performance tuning, and capacity planning for the data quality platform and its infrastructure as source systems are added and new integration business rules and logic are introduced
- Engage with IT teams such as Data Management, DBAs, Security, Storage and Networking when their involvement is required to meet the project needs
- Drive data quality standard methodologies and consistency that align to a data quality strategy and roadmap
- Establish reusable tools and best practices for Data Quality analysis, tracking cleansing and escalation
- Conduct code reviews to ensure compliance with Charter standards
- Help solve complex production issues spanning multiple tiers in the BI/DW technology stack
- Stay current in new BI /DW technologies, evaluate them and make adoption recommendations
- Participate in developing and documenting technical standards and best practices for the BI organization
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Expertise in all areas of data warehousing (architecture, data sourcing/acquisition, integration, transformation, presentation)
- Experience in logical and physical database design for data warehousing (3NF/Star Schemas) including SQL writing/tuning on MPP platforms such as Teradata, redshift, snowflake
- Strong problem solving, collaboration and communication skills
- Experience in developing and implementing complex data warehouse and BI solutions
- Understanding of various data connectors for all major databases and ability to use them natively
- Expert knowledge of multiple Operating Systems server platforms and experience in Linux /Unix/python scripting
- Working knowledge of Data Governance, Data Quality and Data Lineage concepts is required
- Experience in Hadoop ecosystem including HDFS, HIVE, Sqoop, Spark, Py Spark
- Ability to demonstrate lateral thinking required to solve complex technical problems
- Ability to prepare clear and concise documentation for technical and business audiences
- Ability to communicate in a clear and straightforward manner (written and verbal)
- Ability to deliver against several initiatives simultaneously
- Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science; or equivalent training, education and experience Master’s degree preferred
