Sr DevOps Engineer

This position will start as fully remote and transition to a hybrid model in Charlotte, NC.

A TEKsystems customer is seeking an expert Cloud Dev Ops Engineer to lead the migration of legacy/monolithic applications to cloud infrastructure and establish robust Dev Ops pipelines. While AWS is the primary cloud environment, experience with Azure is also valued.

You will focus on CI/CD tooling for on-premise and AWS infrastructure, collaborating with developers, QC, and infrastructure teams to build secure, in‑house and cloud‑based pipelines. This is a high‑impact role within a newly unified Dev Ops and cloud organization, offering significant opportunities to modernize applications and infrastructure.

• Advanced proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) for managing complex, multi‑region cloud environments.
• Expert‑level Kubernetes management (EKS, AKS), including cluster hardening, service meshes, and custom controllers.
• Ability to design and scale self‑healing pipelines using Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI, or Jenkins for Git Ops workflows.
• Deep architectural knowledge of AWS/Azure, specifically regarding cost optimization, compliance, security, and high availability.
• Implementation of full‑stack telemetry (ELK stack, Grafana, Datadog) for proactive system health.
• Experience transitioning legacy monolithic architecture into scalable, secure microservices.
• Integration of automated security scanning (SAST/DAST) and compliance‑as‑code into the development lifecycle.
• Lead Dev Sec Ops  initiatives, including vulnerability scanning, secret management (Hashi Corp Vault), and IAM policy enforcement.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, Artifactory, Sonar Qube, Fortify, Blackduck, Xray).
• Proven track record of conducting code reviews and establishing internal best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience mentoring team members in an Agile environment.
• Experience working in a regulated environment with Secure‑SDLC processes.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a Dev Ops or SRE role managing high‑traffic production environments.
• Expert‑level proficiency in AWS and/or Azure.
• Deep expertise in Docker and Certified Kubernetes skills.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Go, or Ruby for custom automation and APIs.
• Advanced understanding of Linux system administration, kernel tuning, and networking (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS).
• Understanding of modern security practices (SOC2, OIDC, encryption).

• Design and enforce "Policy as Code" to ensure infrastructure standards.
• Lead the integration of automated security gates and vulnerability management into CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage sensitive data using Hashi Corp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, and RBAC.
• Architect multi‑region, disaster‑recovery‑ready environments on AWS.

• Pay Range: $65,000 - $150,000/year.
