Our client, a global financial services and banking leader
, is hiring for a contract AI Innovation & Evaluation Consultant. This is a hybrid role that can sit in either Charlotte, NC, Las Colinas, TX, or Irving, TX (3 days onsite per week).
This is a senior research/innovation role that is roughly 70% product/vendor evaluation and POC assessment and 30% AI-driven automation/codification. Would be ideal if the person has evaluated multiple technologies/products across broad infrastructure or platform environments and has experience in structured vendor evaluation, technical research, competitive analysis, and recommendation-building.
This role sits within a new Research & Innovation Engineering function evaluating emerging infrastructure, observability, automation, and platform products to determine internal adoption, POC potential, or commercial/investment relevance. The ideal candidate is a senior, research-oriented technologist who can assess multiple technology products, define POC criteria, evaluate vendor claims, and use AI/automation to streamline the assessment process.
Contract Duration: 18 Months to Start, Potential to Extend
Responsibilities- Evaluate emerging infrastructure, observability, automation, and platform technology products/vendors
- Research product capabilities, vendor positioning, and internal use cases using public/vendor data and AI tools
- Build repeatable evaluation templates, scoring models, prompts, and assessment workflows
- Define POC criteria and assess production readiness, including scalability, resiliency, data protection, PII, and regulatory considerations
- Organize vendor discussions and present recommendations to stakeholders
- Senior technologist with research, innovation, product evaluation, vendor assessment, or technology strategy experience
- Broad infrastructure/platform knowledge with enough technical depth to validate real product value
Experience creating POC plans, evaluation criteria, scoring frameworks, or competitive assessments - Hands-on AI/automation or coding capability using tools such as LLMs, prompts, agents, Python, Java
- Comfortable working in a new, evolving function where processes are still being built
