Perform thorough testing of technology systems, software and procedures to ensure proper operation, freedom from defects and that information systems, products and services meet minimum organization standards and end-user requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve problems. Develop, maintain, and upgrade test scripts and architectures for application products. Apply specialized technical expertise to solve critical issues and execute projects of high complexity, scope, size and/or risk.

Serve as a lead on projects, provide training and guidance to other staff.

The work location for this position is remote. While the position can be worked from anywhere in the United States, the candidate is expected to work standard East Coast hours.

• Perform complex test engineering activities throughout assigned software life cycle.
• Design, evaluate and implement test tools, plans, procedures and cases based upon requirements.
• Analyze test cases and provide regular progress reports and metrics.
• Document test results, analysis reports, logs and metrics.
• Recommend program improvements or corrections.
• Provide training and guidance to other staff. Lead and contribute technical expertise to projects.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
• Skills & Abilities:
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to apply technical expertise to resolve problems.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks efficiently.
• Ability to work on a team. Ability to be 24-hour on-call during period of major disaster.
• Strong background in test automation strategy and framework design, including scalable and maintainable automation architectures, defect triage, and release validation cycles.
• Hands-on experience developing automated tests using Playwright with Type Script or JavaScript in enterprise-grade environments.

• Proficiency in API testing and validation using tools such as Postman, REST clients, or automated API frameworks.
• Familiarity with test data management practices, including data setup, masking, and environment coordination.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business requirements into effective automated test coverage.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate testing strategies, risks, and quality metrics to both technical and business audiences.

• Experience using Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools for structured test case design, execution tracking, and reporting.
• Experience leveraging Jira for test case management, defect tracking, and workflow integration with development teams.
• Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure Dev Ops, Git Hub Actions, Jenkins) to enable continuous testing.
• Experience validating end-to-end business workflows across distributed systems, including order management, fulfillment, or supply chain domains.
• Knowledge of modern quality engineering practices, including shift-left testing, risk-based testing, and automation-first approaches.
• Experience working in cross-functional agile teams, partnering closely with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders.

Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.

The annual salary range for this position is $130K-$140K annual. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
