Associate Data Architect (Charlotte, NC)
Optomi, in partnership with a leading financial services organization, is looking for an Associate Data Architect to join their growing Enterprise Architecture team! This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Data Engineer looking to transition into architecture while working on modern AWS cloud solutions and AI-enabled initiatives!
What the right candidate will enjoy:
- Working on cutting-edge AI initiatives without needing a Data Science or Machine Learning background!
- Building proof of concepts and designing AWS-based enterprise solutions alongside senior architects!
- Leveraging modern AWS services, cloud-native architectures, and AI developer tools such as Claude Code!
- Hybrid schedule in Charlotte with hands-on collaboration and mentorship from experienced architects!
Experience the right candidate will have:
- 3+ years of hands-on AWS data engineering experience with services such as Lambda, S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, or other AWS Analytics and Serverless technologies.
- Experience designing and implementing ETL/data pipeline solutions and enterprise data architectures.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, data ingestion, storage, governance, and security best practices.
- Experience with SQL and cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake (preferred).
- Exposure to AI tools, AI integrations, or AI-powered development workflows (not Data Science or Machine Learning model development).
- Experience working within Dev Ops or Dev Sec Ops environments using Git, CI/CD, or infrastructure automation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and architecture teams.
Responsibilities of the right candidate:
- Partner with senior architects to design scalable AWS cloud and data architecture solutions.
- Research, build, and present proof of concepts for new technologies and AI-enabled capabilities.
- Develop architecture standards, patterns, and best practices for enterprise data platforms.
- Collaborate with Agile delivery teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to cloud, data, and integration strategies.
- Support architecture decisions across cross-functional teams while helping define future technology roadmaps.
