Associate Data Architect (Charlotte, NC)

Optomi, in partnership with a leading financial services organization, is looking for an Associate Data Architect to join their growing Enterprise Architecture team! This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Data Engineer looking to transition into architecture while working on modern AWS cloud solutions and AI-enabled initiatives!

What the right candidate will enjoy:

  • Working on cutting-edge AI initiatives without needing a Data Science or Machine Learning background!
  • Building proof of concepts and designing AWS-based enterprise solutions alongside senior architects!
  • Leveraging modern AWS services, cloud-native architectures, and AI developer tools such as Claude Code!
  • Hybrid schedule in Charlotte with hands-on collaboration and mentorship from experienced architects!

Experience the right candidate will have:

  • 3+ years of hands-on AWS data engineering experience with services such as Lambda, S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, or other AWS Analytics and Serverless technologies.
  • Experience designing and implementing ETL/data pipeline solutions and enterprise data architectures.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data ingestion, storage, governance, and security best practices.
  • Experience with SQL and cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake (preferred).
  • Exposure to AI tools, AI integrations, or AI-powered development workflows (not Data Science or Machine Learning model development).
  • Experience working within Dev Ops or Dev Sec Ops  environments using Git, CI/CD, or infrastructure automation.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and architecture teams.

Responsibilities of the right candidate:

  • Partner with senior architects to design scalable AWS cloud and data architecture solutions.
  • Research, build, and present proof of concepts for new technologies and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Develop architecture standards, patterns, and best practices for enterprise data platforms.
  • Collaborate with Agile delivery teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to cloud, data, and integration strategies.
  • Support architecture decisions across cross-functional teams while helping define future technology roadmaps.
