What is the opportunity?We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Systems Engineer to join our Information Technology team in Charlotte, NC (or another approved on-site location). Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities- Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
- Build, maintain, and optimize secure, scalable private cloud infrastructure and platform services that support reliable deployment and operation of ministry-critical workloads.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and application delivery using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, AI tools, and other modern engineering practices to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
- Manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters, open-source storage, and supporting cloud technologies, including configuration, upgrades, patching, performance monitoring, and capacity optimization.
- Monitor platform health, troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues, and participate in incident response and on-call support, driving root-cause analysis and long-term remediation to improve resilience.
- Collaborate with teams, stakeholders, and vendors to evaluate emerging technologies, optimize cloud resource usage and costs, and develop tooling and documentation that promote continuous improvement, maintainability, and shared technical knowledge.
- Other duties as assigned.
As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor's degree or university program certificate in a related field and five (5) to seven (7) years of Cloud Engineering experience; or seven (7)+ years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience in cloud infrastructure engineering with a focus on platform operations, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Extensive hands-on experience administering Kubernetes in production, strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, and comfort with open-source, on-premise environments;
Open Stack and Ceph experience is a plus. - 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies (required); if not already completed, an opportunity to meet and complete the requirement is available upon hire.
