Lead Software Engineer – Workday Extend & Compensation

Location:

Charlotte, NC/Minneapolis, MN About the Role We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Human Resources Information Technology (HRIT) team and support Workday Engineering initiatives for the Compensation product team. This role will deliver compliant Workday Extend solutions supporting critical U.S. and global compensation projects. The ideal candidate combines strong Workday Extend development expertise with hands-on experience building integrations and a solid understanding of Workday Compensation processes.

You will work in an Agile environment, partnering with business and technology stakeholders to deliver incremental, high-quality product enhancements. Responsibilities
• Lead moderately complex technical initiatives and deliverables within the Workday Engineering domain.
• Design, develop, configure, test, debug, document, and deploy Workday Extend applications and related solutions.
• Build, enhance, and maintain Workday integrations, including EIBs, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, and reporting solutions.
• Support Workday Compensation processes and deliver technical enhancements aligned with business, policy, and compliance requirements.
• Participate in sprint planning, effort estimation, backlog refinement, and release planning.
• Analyze and resolve moderately complex technical challenges involving systems, integrations, and business processes.
• Lead projects and serve as an escalation point for technical issues.
• Provide technical guidance, direction, and support to less experienced team members.
• Collaborate with product owners, HR stakeholders, engineers, analysts, managers, and other partners to achieve delivery goals.
• Support upgrades, releases, implementations, and ongoing production maintenance.

Required Qualifications
• 4+ years of software engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.
• 2+ years of HR systems experience, such as Workday, People Soft, Oracle, or SAP.
• 2+ years of business systems analysis or design experience.
• 2+ years of technology release, deployment, or implementation experience.
• 1+ years of Workday development experience, including Workday integrations and reporting.
• 2+ years of hands-on Workday Extend development experience.
• Experience developing and supporting Workday integrations using EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, Report Writer, and Advanced Reporting.
• Strong knowledge of Workday Compensation processes.
• Experience working in an Agile delivery environment.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting or configuring Workday Compensation.
• Experience with SQL, SAS, or other data management, reporting, and query tools.
• Knowledge of Adaptive Workforce Planning, Modeling, Sheets, Reports, and Dashboards.
• Experience integrating Workday HCM with Adaptive, including user synchronization and single sign-on.
• Knowledge of Adaptive security, permission sets, user groups, and access rules.
• Ability to influence effectively in a matrixed organization.
• Proven ownership, accountability, and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Pay Range: $65 - $70 The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate;
