** Position Summary*
* The intern will join the Data & Analytics team, contributing to the growth and scalability of enterprise data platforms. This opportunity provides hands-on experience with platform engineering, Python software development, Apache Spark, distributed computing, and the infrastructure that supports analytics and artificial intelligence solutions.

** Key Responsibilities*
* + Support development and enhancement of scalable data and AI platform capabilities.

+ Contribute to software engineering activities using Python.

+ Assist with platform growth, performance, reliability, and operational improvement needs.

+ Work with Apache Spark and distributed computing concepts in support of data workloads.

+ Support testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and implementation activities.

+ Collaborate with platform engineers and partner teams to understand technical requirements.

+ Research tools, patterns, and practices that support platform scalability.

+ Document technical solutions, workflows, and project outcomes.

** Requirements*
* + Student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

+ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

+ Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and business concepts quickly.

+ Effective written and verbal communication skills.

+ Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

+ Self-motivated, organized, and willing to take initiative and learn.

+ Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later

+ Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

+ Be willing to work at the posted job location

** Preferred Qualifications*
* + Proficiency in Python through coursework, projects, or prior experience.

+ Familiarity with Apache Spark, big data platforms, or distributed computing concepts.

+ Understanding of software engineering fundamentals, data structures, and problem-solving techniques.

+ Interest in platform engineering, cloud technologies, data engineering, analytics, or AI infrastructure.
