Senior Regulatory Reporting Technology Consultant

A leading financial services organization is seeking a highly technical consultant to support its Market and Counter party Regulatory Reporting team. This position will help modernize critical reporting and stress-testing processes supporting regulatory requirements such as FR Y-14Q and CCAR.

The ideal candidate combines advanced SQL and Java expertise with the ability to analyze complex business processes, identify manual dependencies, design scalable automation solutions, and partner with technology teams through production implementation.

Direct banking or regulatory reporting experience is preferred but not required for candidates with exceptional technical expertise.

• Partner with Market Risk and Counter party Risk subject-matter experts to understand end-to-end regulatory reporting workflows.
• Analyze data sourcing, transformation, aggregation, reconciliation, and submission processes.
• Document current-state workflows, controls, data dependencies, and reporting requirements.
• Identify manual touchpoints, reconciliation gaps, data-lineage concerns, and opportunities for automation.
• Design scalable future-state solutions, including data pipelines, aggregation logic, reporting layers, and control frameworks.
• Support the modernization of legacy SQL-based processes into enterprise application frameworks using Java, Spring Boot, or Spring Batch.
• Translate business and regulatory requirements into detailed Jira epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and validation standards.
• Partner with developers to refine backlog items and ensure requirements are implemented correctly.
• Support the complete delivery lifecycle, including solution design, development, testing, validation, and production deployment.
• Work with large relational datasets, regulatory reporting tables, and complex risk-aggregation environments.
• Ensure data integrity, reconciliation accuracy, transformation reliability, auditability, and performance.
• Use Power BI or Tableau to reduce manual reporting and provide stakeholders with greater visibility into risk metrics.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI/GenAI copilots, semantic layers, and advanced analytics platforms, for documentation, reconciliation, and anomaly detection.
• Ensure proposed solutions comply with enterprise governance, regulatory, and risk-management standards.

• Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, data analysis, and performance optimization.
• Strong Java development experience within enterprise applications or batch-processing environments.
• Experience with ETL development, data pipelines, data architecture, and scalable processing frameworks.
• Proven ability to analyze complex processes and translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Experience writing detailed technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria in Jira.
• Experience partnering with business SMEs, developers, data teams, and technology stakeholders.
• Ability to manage initiatives through design, build, testing, validation, and production deployment.
• Strong analytical, documentation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Charlotte three days per week.

• Experience with in banking, financial services, or another highly regulated environment.
• Knowledge of Market Risk, Counter party Risk, stress testing, or risk aggregation.
• Experience supporting regulatory reporting requirements such as FR Y-14Q, CCAR, or Basel.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Fabric, semantic layers, or similar technologies.
• Experience applying AI or GenAI tools to documentation, reconciliation, anomaly detection, or process automation.
