Job Description
A Snowflake Platform Lead is responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing Snowflake's cloud data platform to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability of data operations.
Core Responsibilities- Environment Management:
Administer and configure Snowflake accounts, warehouses, databases, schemas, roles, tasks, stages, streams, and pipes to meet organizational needs - Performance & Cost Optimization:
Monitor system performance, query execution, and workload management; tune warehouse sizes, clustering, partitioning, and caching strategies to improve efficiency and control costs - Security & Access Control:
Implement and manage Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Row-Level Security (RLS), Column-Level Security (CLS), encryption, masking policies, and integrate with SSO/OAuth/MFA for secure access - Data Integration & ETL:
Support data ingestion pipelines using tools like Informatica, Talend, DBT, or Azure Data Factory; manage cloud storage integrations (AWS S3, Azure Blob, GCP) and ensure data quality - Backup & Disaster Recovery:
Plan and manage backup strategies, failover, and data retention policies, leveraging Snowflake's built-in capabilities Data Terrain+1. - Automation & Dev Ops:
Develop automation scripts (Python, Shell, Power Shell) and implement CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, Azure Dev Ops, or other IaC frameworks - Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
Monitor system health, performance metrics, and usage; troubleshoot data load failures, query issues, and performance bottlenecks . - Governance & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with data security standards (SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR), maintain audit logs, and implement data governance policies - Collaboration:
Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business teams; provide technical support and training on Snowflake features
- Experience:
Typically 3–10+ years of IT experience, with 3–5+ years in Snowflake administration Data Terrain+2. - Technical
Skills:
Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, SQL, data warehousing, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) Data Terrain+2. - Familiarity with Cortex Code and other LLM based coding accelerators
- Security:
Expertise in RBAC, RLS, CLS, encryption, and compliance controls - Tools:
Experience with ETL/ELT tools, CI/CD, IaC (Terraform), and scripting languages
