About the RoleThe First-Party Property Coverage Attorney will play a key role in a growing and sophisticated property insurance practice, handling high-exposure coverage disputes from pre-suit evaluation through litigation and resolution. This position offers substantial hands‑on responsibility, direct client interaction, and meaningful courtroom experience. Ideal for an attorney looking to deepen technical coverage expertise while advancing toward long‑term partnership opportunities within a collaborative, high-performing team.
Responsibilities- Manage first-party property coverage disputes from inception through resolution
- Conduct pre-suit coverage analysis and provide strategic recommendations
- Draft pleadings, motions, and coverage opinions
- Take and defend depositions, including Examinations Under Oath (EUOs)
- Participate in mediations, hearings, and court appearances
- Collaborate with team members on litigation strategy and case development
- Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in first-party property coverage or insurance defense litigation
- Strong policy analysis and coverage interpretation skills
- Experience handling EUOs, depositions, pleadings, and motions
- Excellent writing, analytical, and oral advocacy abilities
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Detail-oriented with a team-first mindset
- Active license to practice law in North Carolina or eligibility for admission
- Base salary ranging from $120,000 – $180,000 DOE + non-discretionary bonus opportunities
