This position is for the Power/Energy division.

Our client is seeking an experienced Procurement/Commodity Specialist (Mechanical components) to support strategic sourcing and commodity management within a Power/Energy business. This position will focus on supplier strategy
, commercial negotiations
, cost optimization, and maintaining a competitive supply base for a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering, business, and global procurement stakeholders to support sourcing decisions and supplier performance. Candidates with a strong mechanical manufacturing background and experience managing complex supplier relationships are encouraged to apply.

• Develop sourcing strategies for assigned commodities in alignment with business and supply chain objectives.
• Analyze supplier markets, spending patterns, and cost structures to identify opportunities for improved procurement performance.
• Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate suppliers and support sourcing decisions.
• Lead negotiations involving pricing, commercial terms, long-term agreements, and supplier conditions.
• Prepare and maintain framework agreements and supplier price lists.
• Manage relationships with strategic suppliers and support ongoing supplier performance improvement.
• Coordinate supplier qualification, selection, evaluation, classification, and development activities.
• Identify supplier financial risks and supply chain vulnerabilities and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Lead or participate in commodity review meetings and sourcing approval processes.
• Track procurement KPIs, document savings initiatives, and report results to stakeholders.
• Support early supplier involvement in product and project activities to improve cost and manufacturability.
• Apply cost and financial analysis techniques when evaluating procurement opportunities.
• Communicate mechanical manufacturing requirements with suppliers and internal engineering teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes and supplier management activities.
• Collaborate with global teams in a matrixed organization to align procurement priorities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 6–12 years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management
  , purchasing, supply chain
  , or engineering within manufacturing or machinery industries
  . Relevant experience should demonstrate appropriate depth in sourcing and supplier management.
• Experience developing commodity strategies and managing supplier relationships.
• Hands‑on experience negotiating supplier contracts
  , pricing
  , and complex commercial terms.
• Understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes and the ability to communicate technical mechanical topics with suppliers and cross‑functional teams.
• Experience with cost analysis, spend analysis, savings initiatives, and supplier or supply chain risk management.
• Familiarity with SAP and Productivity Management System.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  , Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational abilities, and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Ability to work effectively in a global matrixed environment and influence stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10–15% domestically and internationally.
• Preferred:
  Power generation industry experience and data analytics/data science capabilities.
