Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

We are seeking a Buyer to support the expansion of U.S. manufacturing operations for an established global high-tech manufacturing company. The organization already has a strong North American customer base and significant business in the U.S. and is now expanding its capabilities by establishing manufacturing operations in Charlotte and developing a supporting domestic supply chain.

In this role, you will support the sourcing and procurement of electrical and mechanical components used in highly engineered, custom equipment. You will work closely with engineering, operations, suppliers, and global procurement teams to identify and develop U.S. suppliers, manage purchasing activities, and help establish a reliable domestic supply base to support growing manufacturing operations.

The Buyer will also travel to Germany for training and collaboration with the company's established European operations, gaining firsthand knowledge of its products, components, suppliers, and purchasing processes.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on purchasing professional to play an important role in the growth of a new U.S. manufacturing operation while joining an established international organization with significant existing business in North America.

• Source and purchase electrical and mechanical components, assemblies, and materials used in custom-engineered equipment.
• Support the identification, evaluation, and development of U.S. suppliers as the company expands its domestic supply chain.
• Prepare and manage RFQs, evaluate supplier quotations, and support pricing and commercial negotiations.
• Create and manage purchase orders while monitoring pricing, lead times, delivery schedules, and material availability.
• Work closely with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, operations, and production teams to understand technical requirements and ensure materials meet project specifications.
• Communicate directly with domestic and international suppliers regarding pricing, availability, delivery, quality, and order requirements.
• Assist with supplier performance evaluation and help address quality, cost, and delivery issues.
• Monitor material requirements and proactively identify potential shortages, long lead-time items, and other supply risks.
• Support inventory management, production planning, and project schedules through effective purchasing coordination.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings, alternative sourcing, and continuous improvement within purchasing and supply chain operations.
• Maintain accurate supplier, purchasing, pricing, and material information within company systems.

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant industry experience will also be considered.
• 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or buyer experience within industrial manufacturing, custom machinery, automation, special equipment, or a related technical environment.
• Experience purchasing electrical and/or mechanical components used in manufacturing or engineered equipment.
• Familiarity with technical drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other engineering documentation.
• Experience working directly with suppliers on RFQs, pricing, lead times, delivery, and material requirements.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple purchasing priorities and supplier relationships.
• Comfortable collaborating with engineering, operations, production, and global procurement teams.
• ERP/MRP system experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• This position requires occasional domestic and international travel, including travel to Germany for training and collaboration with the company's established European operations.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
