Carolinas Medical Center;
Charlotte, NC.

Hours

Rotating days, 12‑hour shifts. 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM. Every other weekend.

Major Responsibilities

• Perform facility and equipment maintenance in accordance with applicable codes and standards; document through CMMS.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment (motors, pumps, conveyors, doors, fans, boilers, heat exchangers, controls) with moderate guidance.
• Troubleshoot and repair patient care equipment (beds, wheelchairs, carts, tables) not maintained by other departments.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical systems (pneumatic tube, HVAC, refrigerators/freezers, ice machines, kitchen equipment, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, specialized water) with moderate guidance.
• Perform general maintenance functions in grounds maintenance, carpentry, painting, and snow removal.
• Respond to emergencies (leaks, floods, water outages, fires, power outages, equipment failures) as directed.
• Respond to building occupant requests in a timely, professional manner; conduct zone maintenance rounding and keep requesters apprised of status.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and perform equipment safety checks.
• Inspect and repair fire doors, hardware, firewalls and smoke partitions.
• Read blueprints and maintenance manuals for assignment completion.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required

• Driver's license required.

Education Required

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience Required

• 2–4 years of experience in equipment maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Basic computer skills (CMMS, building automation system, Microsoft Office).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, crawl, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to overhead, up to 50 lbs. from floor to chest‑level, and up to 50 lbs. at waist height a reasonable distance.
• Must be able to push/pull with 50 lbs. of force.
• Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards; knowledge of safety precautions.
• Position requires travel; may be exposed to road/weather hazards.
