Director of Accounting

A growing construction and real estate organization is seeking an accomplished accounting leader to help lead its accounting, reporting, and treasury functions. This individual will direct day-to-day operations, oversee a high-performing accounting team, and serve as a key partner to senior leadership on financial reporting, process improvement, and systems initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting experience, strong leadership capability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, project-driven environment.

• Lead the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely consolidated financial statements.
• Maintain full compliance with US GAAP and reporting requirements tied to lenders, investors, and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare and deliver detailed monthly reporting packages for executive leadership.

• Oversee complex balance sheet reconciliations, including leases, PP&E, debt, construction-in-progress, and related high-risk areas.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for PP&E and project asset accounting, including development, capital projects, and lease accounting.
• Support all lease revenue matters and maintain accurate related schedules.

• Act as the primary escalation point for Accounting Managers on technical questions, systems issues, and personnel matters.
• Lead process improvement and systems projects aimed at increasing accuracy, efficiency, and visibility across the department.
• Guide a team of accounting professionals with a focus on development, accountability, and performance.

• 8 or more years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• A strong command of GAAP and regulatory requirements.
• A sharp analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into executive-level outputs.
• Excellent communication skills and a steady leadership presence.
