- Primary Purpose of Department: The mission of Housing and Residence Life is to pledge to foster communities that enhance the academic, social and personal development of residential students. The Department of Housing and Residence Life is comprised of a team of professionals committed to creating communities that enhance the academic, personal and social development of residential students and to providing students with a variety of services and comfortable living environments that are clean, safe and affordable.
- Primary Purpose of Position: The Associate Director is a member of the department's Residence Life Leadership Team who supervises, leads, and develops staff and provides vision/direction for specific content areas in the Residence Life unit.
- Summary of
Position Responsibilities:
The Associate Director is a member of the department's Residence Life Leadership Team. The Associate Director will also serve as a departmental representative on assigned University and Division of Student Affairs committees. This position will be responsible for working with and assisting the Division of Student Affairs and Housing and Residence Life with gathering research, creating reports and all assessment efforts related to Residence Life.
The Associate Director reports to the Director of Residence Life.
- Minimum Education/Experience
- Master's degree (ideally in higher education, counseling and/or student personnel, or a related field)
- Minimum of 5 years progressive professional experience in campus housing, student affairs or a related field.
- Experience supervising graduate or professional staff
- Experience serving in on-call response and/or in crisis management
- Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience with the recruitment, selection, training and ongoing development of full-time and student staff
- Experience with Human Resource functions
- Experience with coordinating Learning Community programs or Academic Initiatives
- Experience supervising graduate and professional staff
- Experience serving in on-call response and/or in crisis management
- Experience with Residential Curriculum
