Business Manager

Reporting to a Senior Business Manager or Director, this position is responsible for the overall management of a single account with limited categories and limited team functions or a key category or categories within a larger account in the brokerage business.

Responsibilities
  • Achieve budgeted goals for your area of accountability.
  • Perform, coordinate, and lead the analysis and development of marketing plans, product promotions, advertising, in‑store displays, merchandising strategies, and inventory forecasting.
  • Ensure execution of the LAMP framework to identify the most critical initiatives and relationships and work with the team to lay out short‑ and long‑term plans to achieve appropriate relationships for the account or assigned category business unit.
  • Develop strong supplier relationships by obtaining alignment and delivering on mutually established goals.
  • Attract, develop, and retain key talent to enable the execution of collective goals for the customer and the enterprise.
  • Support account team in the development of sales plans and negotiate supplier commission rates to grow category or team revenue.
  • Interpret trends and other sales analysis data to assist the Senior Business Manager.
  • Perform increasingly complex interactions with suppliers, including rate negotiation and ownership of key engagements.
  • Collaborate and partner with marketing resources, both internal and external, to develop marketing plans and initiatives.
  • Execute new strategic initiatives for the account or assigned categories.
  • Lead the team to demonstrate innovation and autonomy around marketing, brand management, and consumer data analytics.
  • Generate and maintain a consultative approach, influencing and convincing buyers, effectively selling services.
  • Allocate resources at the account level or within the assigned category business unit.
  • Develop and deliver on mutually established supplier goals while fostering thought leadership within the account team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other graduate degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of professional work experience; 5 years preferred.
  • Experience in building and nurturing brands; private brand management a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and manage teams.
  • Ability to contribute to setting and achieving budgets.
  • Good grasp of Product Development, Marketing, Retail, Category Management, and Logistics.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Conflict management, decision‑making, prioritizing, and customer service skills.
  • Track record of building and maintaining customer/client relationships.
  • Ability to visualize and plan objectives and goals strategically.
